Under the Covid tier restrictions, Houdini’s Magic Bar was able to open in October. Significant precautions were taken. All employees were temperature checked at the start of the evening, employees and patrons were required to apply hand sanitiser, disposable menus were used, tables were cleaned and sanitised between sittings and “No Touch” magic was employed by the magicians. Under this “No Touch” magic, spectators were not permitted to touch any of the items being used, such as cards, coins, ropes, sharpie pens etc. It was fantastic to be performing again, even though it was under less than ideal conditions. Despite the restrictions of “No Touch” magic, the patrons completely understood the need for it, and had a great time. It was a great pleasure to perform and to take some of their worries away for a few minutes. Sadly, we are presently under Tier 3 lockdown and Houdini’s is not currently open. We are all chomping at the bit to be performing again once we are allowed to. While I enjoy performing, the greatest gift I can give is golden memories, and to take some of those worries of life away for a while.
